The Bars Assessment - Rally Licence
Thinking of going rallying? Why do you need a BARS Assessment?
The aim of the assessment is to increase your knowledge of the sport and the etiquette within thus providing a higher level of safety for all involved being driver, navigator, officials and spectators.
To take part in a stage rally you have to obtain a Motor Sport UK National B Stage Rally Licence
Why Choose us?
Here at Silverstone Rally School we go one step further as part of the assessment here we will cover additional areas (no additional charge) to compliment the BARS assessment, these being:-
Stage procedures , Service Areas ,Event Documentation, Equipment- type/lifespan, Spectators, Safety within the rally car.
The assessment may seem daunting but we are here to ensure a friendly professional approach to ease tension. We carry out BARS assessments 6 days a week including the weekends (naturally subject to availability). The assessments are carried out by people that are still competing both in the UK and Europe both as a driver and navigator- over 35 years plus of experience. On booking we provide you with a document detailing the areas of study that are required and we have a helpline prior to the assessment. Once you have passed we are still here to advise you on the sport- only a phone call away. Taking your Assessment here allows you discount on your equipment, helmet & suit etc.
The first step would be to order your go rally pack from the Motor Sport UK you can order your go rally pack here. We can then help you take the next step to obtain your National B Licence by undergoing an official BARS licence assessment here at Silverstone Rally School .
Most delegates choose to book some driver training along side their BARS assessment. This enables you to combine the driver training and your BARS assessment on the same day.
A BARS licence is the recognized qualification for most entry level rally series and is provided by the Motorsport UK who regulates motorsport in the UK. By obtaining one you will have achieved a minimum standard for both the academic and practical knowledge of rallying which is essential for anyone before starting their rally career.
Please note the bars assessment can be done in either Front , Rear Wheel Drive or Four Wheel drive vehicles when booking solo driver training combined. Please let us know when you book in the comments section of the booking form. However for all other training courses its rear wheel drive or four wheel drive.
The assessment comprises of the following elements:
Welcome introduction
Driving Evaluation (Please note you only move onto the theory assessment if you pass the driving evaluation)
Video refresher
Briefing - what to expect at your first rally, safety issues and the BARS test details
Written Assessment
De-brief
The Assessment is a great introduction to motorsport and will equip you with introductory knowledge. However we recommend that driving skill training would be a great asset prior to your first event as there is no driving tuition given during the assessment itself. The cost of a Bars Assessment is £175. However we are happy to offer a discount on training if you want to combine driver training to compliment your assessment. To Qualify for this offer they must be booked as one and bought together on the same day and time as a package. We do this as we believe it is important for you to have some quality training.
